Abstract: | The purpose of this study was to determine the antioxidant activity and phytochemical composition of an ethanolic extract and tea made from Cissus quadrangularis (CQ) and Pluchea indica (PI), as well as their combination (CP). The CP ethanolic extract (CP-E) demonstrated the highest antioxidant activity in all three assays, including DPPH, FRAP and ABTS. while the CQ ethanolic extract (CQ-E) had the highest TPC and TFC (65.17 ± 0.15 mg GAE/g and 49.85 ± 1.26 CE mg/g, respectively). CP-E was found to be at least 200 times more active against antioxidants and phytochemical composition than the CP tea. CQ-E and PI ethanolic extract (PI-E) also contained significantly more TPC and TFC than the corresponding teas. The results indicate that CQ-E, PI-E, and CP-E may be used as active ingredients in the development of functional herbal tea products with a high added value. |
